Fair Trade Friends (FTF) is a small NGO based in Dar es Salaam which gained its registration in 2008. Its aim is to help crafts women and men in Tanzania to market their goods on a fair trade basis. As well as finding new markets, this includes providing training, assistance with design and quality control.

Fair trade was a guiding principle from the outset. The founder of Mama Masai, Joy Stephens, hoped to extend her idea to include other marginalised groups of crafts-people throughout Tanzania who needed help to market their products. All goods would be sold on a fair trade basis and every effort made to ensure that the women and men receive a fair price for their work, reflecting their time, skill and experience.
